Nestled on the south-eastern Kentish coast of England is Dungeness. Originally known for its power stations and old-fashioned train lines, it’s increasingly gaining a reputation for its array of unique and interesting beachside properties and ambitious luxury new builds.
On this project, we were delighted to work with well-established local architects and builders. As a condition of the planning approval, the proposed new build had to actually be built around the abandoned train carriage that was already on the plot, presenting its own challenges to the team!
We were brought in to supply a slim sightline face fixed pocket sliding door, which would enable the customers to slide the door fully open whilst still enjoying an uninterrupted view when it was closed.
This would help create a panoramic doors effect, maximising natural light and ensure they can enjoy the beauty of their surroundings all year round. Needless to say, minimal sightlines were a must!
Of our 4 colour options, we suggested our Brushed Platinum anodised finish which would disappear in the daylight. We installed our doors into the L-shaped brackets fixed onto the face of the building.
The end result was a dream project for owner and architect, creating a truly unique beachside property that wouldn’t look out of place in an episode of Grand Designs.
